Abstract

The use of AI and neural networks is becoming a new and rapidly changing direction in the educational system. In this regard, the Republic of Kazakhstan is adopting new policies related to the development of artificial intelligence. This study explores the perception of artificial intelligence by Kazakhstani teachers in the context of widespread digitalization.

The aim of this study is to examine how school teachers perceive and utilize artificial intelligence tools within the context of the digital transformation of the educational system in Kazakhstan. Data was collected through an online survey and in-depth interviews with teachers and representatives of school administration. In addition, SNA (social network analysis) provided teachers’ patterns of using AI, revealing the clusters of subject teachers with shared digital practices.

Results of the study demonstrate that Kazakhstani schoolteachers are implementing new platforms into their teaching practice by adapting them to improve the effectiveness of the lessons as well as to facilitate their workload. Despite the positive aspects, teachers have concerns regarding children’s critical thinking as well as dependency on modern technologies.
